Under eye fillers are a very
specialised treatment that should be performed with the utmost care
and precision. This, unlike more commonly undertaken
procedures such as nasolabial (laughter line) fillers, is a harder
and more delicate procedure.
Under eye fillers or eye bag fillers as they are also known can
take a long time to dissolve and therefore rubbing the area alone
may not be sufficient.
If you feel that you have lumps under your eyes, or excessive
bagginess caused by fillers or if you feel that your eye fillers
have shifted, then we can correct them and dissolve them
effectively.
Dermal fillers are made
of synthesised hyaluronic acid, which is supported in the collagen
skin matrix. It is slowly absorbed over time, but if something
untoward occurs, or the filler substance has shifted within the
skin, it may be preferable to hasten the degradation process and
dissolve the filler in order to restore the skin to its previous
state.
We perform correction treatments on clients who may have had
fillers performed by other practitioners and are unhappy with their
results. Sometimes, fillers can have an unwanted effect in
certain areas and we always advise that people check that their
practitioner is suitably experienced to carry out the procedure.
We use hyaluronidase to reverse and enzymatically cleave the
bonds between the filler molecules and this allows the filler to
disperse and almost dissolve away. The procedure can hasten
the dispersion of filler in certain areas e.g. under the eyes by
many months.
Lips can sometimes be overcorrected and start looking unnatural.
If this is a problem that you have experienced then we can certainly
help to correct the excessive volume that is causing the problem.
Visibly lumpy lips or overfilled lips are usually the
problem and both these can be corrected and dissolved effectively at
our clinic.
How do I prepare for dermal filler correction treatment?
Do nothing differently. Just go about your day to day
activities as normal. Your skin will be cleaned at the time of
the procedure so try not to use any products or cosmetics.
The following correction / dissolving treatment can be performed:
-Nasolabial lines (laughter lines)
-Perioral lines (smokers lines around the mouth)
-Glabellar (frown) lines (if too deep for botox alone)
-Chin creases
-Cheek creases
-Any other creases or lines on the face
How does the product dissolve the excess filler?
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that will dissolve hyaluronic acid
rapidly and safely. This medication is mixed with local anaesthesia
and injected into the area of excess filler. The excess filler
will dissolve almost immediately, leaving a happy patient and
surgeon. Hyaluronidase has been used by doctors for injections
for years, most commonly to assist the spread of local anesthetic
solutions.
How many filler dissolving treatment sessions will I require?
You may not need more than one treatment. Depending on the
extent of the filler and the volume of excess filler that we are
trying to dissolve, you may need another treatment between 3 and 5
days later.
Are there side effects of hyaluronidase filler dissolving
treatment?
There are very few reported side effects with hyaluronidase,
slight bruising being the most common (as with any injections). This is
usually minimal and can be covered effectively with make up.
You
must mention to your practitioner if you are taking any blood
thinning medications ie. aspirin or warfarin as one would be at
higher risk of bruising. However, this does not mean that we
cannot proceed, it just mean we will take extra care to minimise
bruising.
